It’s a Barbour and I love the fit and the functionality of it. Not a wax jacket, but some GoreTex clone. It’s a few years old but had very little use.
The Nikwax TX is pretty good though, so I’m hopeful of a positive result.

You’ll be hospital bound if Claire sees your post Rob
I can vouch for that.
My lower back and pelvis are not properly put together and 've been getting back spasms for over 20 years and I have to be incredibly careful, and do exercises, to try to prevent them.
What I’ve noticed is that each time it happens - and I’ve only had 3 in the last 5 or 6 years - is that it takes longer and longer each time to recover.
There is no quick fix but the best thing I have found for relieving the pain is one of these:
I’m not sure they actually manufacture them anymore as they are hard to source but they crop up on ebay from time to time and I actually have a brand new one in the cupboard for when my first one, which is about 10 years old, gives up the ghost.
Strapping up your back with a corset type support is not a bad idea short term. Also heat pads can provide distraction from the pain centre.
Ounce of prevention etc’, if this is something chronic, it might be time to consider a daily routine of about 10 mins or so to slowly add some strength and flexibility which will help longer term.
I think I’ve pulled/torn a muscle in it. I’m still getting over the cold I had at Jims and in the middle of a coughing fit I felt it twinge. I tried to head it off at the pass by getting some ibuprofen down me asap, but it was obviously a bit too severe for that to work
Currently is a constant dull ache (despite the medication: 400mg Ibuprofen then 500mg paracetamol a couple of hours later, plus Voltarol gel) and when I move a sharp pain, and occasionally it goes into spasm which literally just stops me dead and almost brings me to tears.
It’s slightly better than yesterday, but there’s no way I’m going into work before it’s 100% and risk it going again and having to have 2 absences on my sick record rather than 1.
Oh, and I’m hobbling around the house like an old man. Even had to resort to a stick yesterday.
Have you seen the GP? If not, do it now.
Our pharmacist can do assessments so I just had one of those. If I need a sick note I’ll see a GP later in the week.
@Rob998 Your symptoms sound like they might be disc-related. Get thee to a physician!
Long-time back sufferer here - I blame scrummaging. What works for me is daily stretching, core exercises and a foam roller. I used to spend money on treatments, but now I manage it myself with the above. I used to get regular spasms until I got myself into a self-help routine.
So much this.
Fookinell your garden has grown
I don’t think they are, the pain is off to one side of my spine. Pretty sure it’s just muscular. Bloody well hope so anyway.
That fence with the gate in is 8’ high. Terry’s garden hedge is under the snow.
VB
Fair enough, it could be referred pain though.
The view from my Brewhouse
Surprised your view isn’t face down.

Testing. Please - it’s testing. To ensure the quality of the end result. A cross that us brewers must bear.
