Nice to see the Dutch are taking care of Russian interests…

Mick’s lad! Is he any good?

No
he spent two years crashing Haas cars before they had enough and dropped him.
Been without a F1 drive since.
He has been third driver at Merc and done some testing
The cynic in me says he was never good enough, but his name bought a lot to a team and much needed sponsorship. So probably only ever got a drive for financial rather than talent reasons.
Who knows, may get a drive at the new Audi team for the above reasons

Think Rob means Mick Doohans lad, rather than Schueys lad :+1:

My bad,
He has certainly been picked ahead of Mick S and indeed Carlos Sainz (now at Williams) who was also in the frame.

Seems there are very close links between the Schumachers and the Doohans

James Vowles of Williams (for those who don’t know!) has been talking to RB about having Liam Lawson replace Logan Sargeant for the rest of the season.

Be interesting to see who is driving what this coming weekend.

I wondered If Mick Schumacher might drop in, not sure he’s good enough/ready, but there is the Merc engine link.

The problem with Mick was the number of expensive crashes he had whilst probably being not quite fast enough, so little different from the bloke they are disappointed in now.

Logan Sargeant out…

Interesting, I don’t think he has much F1 experience, one practice session maybe?
Will be interesting :+1:

If he just breaks the car less often than LS he’ll be golden

Colapinto’s backers (Argentine Automobile Club, along with sponsors such as Mercado Libre, Globant, Quilmes, YPF, and others) are reportedly paying Williams $4.5 million for him to replace Logan Sargeant.

Red Bull declined an offer to place Liam Lawson in the seat, and Williams didn’t talk to Mick Schumacher’s people.

Ralf Schumacher has unsurprisingly criticised Williams’ decision, but accepts Colapinto is a driver from Williams’ junior program and acknowledges Mick took too long in his second season at Haas to make an impact, saying “Formula 1 is unforgiving.”

Mick S is one of few people to have broken more cars than LS - why would his name even be in the frame?

Well, looks like Merc loved what he did with the car in FP1 :+1:

Verstappen - “Nothing works anymore.”

Be interesting to see how the race goes.

Colapinto drove a good first race IMO.
I fear Antonelli is believing the hype, which must be tough on a teenager. Hope he gets his head together soon.
