FS: DHT preamp - Nobsound (Douk) E6 rebuild inc remote

This sounds lovely for peanuts. Had it hooked up to SissySIT power amp and it was astonishing in terms of sonic performance.

Comes with small wand style remote.

This unit has been transplanted into a new RS Pro aluminium case (£55) to allow for upgrade space.

• Output coupling caps now Weet aluminium types and at 50% greater value
• Input caps removed
• In, out and internally wired with Amtrans gold plated copper
• Switch added at the back of unit for the 5v feed on/off
• Electrolytic caps are a mix of 3x Audio Note Seiyru and 1x Panasonic at larger values
• Added ground point for the likes of an Entreq
• E6 board sits on sorbothane and then on top of a ply board
• Feet by Nanocamp
• A true Alma Marconi winged volume knob
• Upgraded vacuum tubes to 2ж27П which are grounded to the board (so they are shielded)
• Volume pot has been swapped out for a remote contolled SG Audio (Ukrainian) relay controlled resistor stepped attenuator with a constant 22K input regardless of where the volume is
• Some damping applied internally (unsightly stuff but hidden inside ?)

Supplied with a basic 5v power supply. I used this with an iFi iPower which was better. The Nobsound comes with just a cable to use with an iPad charger.

Has a few quirks…

  1. Despite the isolation and tube upgrade, they still ring for the fun of it. Part of the appeal.
  2. These SG Audio attenuators can come with a led display which I did not buy. So the volume dial is a position sensor so when the unit is switched off, it has a memory of where the volume was set before shutdown. So best to turn it down before switch off.
  3. These E6’s can be fussy with impedence mismatches and therefore can have a background hiss with some amps. Still sounds epic but worth knowing beforehand.

Quiet, extremely detailed, dynamic and full of boogie. A very very decent sounding preamp for little money - punches way way about its weight.

£200 posted U.K.
