Nice around the end of August has been binned. There are several bucket-list things around there, the Fondation Maeght

etc. but train travel would be stupid long, flights are pretty pricey, and hotels stupid.

Currently thinking about Norway, the Oslo → Flam → Bergen railway

I for one am very keen to make the acquaintance of the train driving twins Halldis and Gudrun

At the other end of the scale, maybe play dodge-the-goths in Whitby and Harrogate. I’m keener on lobster rolls than on chanting “undead, undead, undead” so would be keen know if there are any Big Goth Weekends* to avoid - Bram Stoker’s birthday or something.

* oh Christ, I Googled it, of course it exists and it’s got its own Wikipedia page

Rovinj in the north opposite Venice. Just experienced Sunsandsalsa. Over 6/700 people dancing away on boats, the beach, marina and anywhere the public could gather. Quite an unexpected spectacle.
