I had the opposite, it was a riot. It had cloisters and all that crap but come 8pm left to our own devices…

Know it well - had a couple of mates who went there. One of them started a telephone engineer apprenticeship with the Post Office (as it was back then) when he left aged 16. He’s just retired at 60 from BT - one job his entire career!
That’s where I went, 1971-78, not a boarder though.

Actually did all my learning at that primary school,secondary was a waste of time though for a visionary like me.
