Blimey that must almost have been your flat. Have you worked out exactly which block it was?
Yes it was, we are the only building not to be listed, there was a hole there with a big tree up until 1983 at which point it was re built.
There was another incendiary bomb removed from the gardens and a few remember playing on the site when they were younger.
A neighbour told me her Mum’s house by Saint Peter’s church got bombed, she pushed past the emergency services to get in the house to rescue her parrot…when she emerged back outside with a dusty parrot the parrot which had never spoken before swore in perfect English…it had learnt coming over on the boat here…The Evening Argus at the time had the headline Polly hates the Germans.
Here’s the full Brighton and Hove map Guy and another picture.
At university I lived for a time in Bramber Road in West London. A complete row of houses on the other side of the road from my house were missing as they were hit by a 1,000kg bomb in 1941. It also meant that there wasn’t a single straight line or flat floor in any of the surviving houses.
Interesting article here about the Canadian Squadrons at Kenley

Really cool, far more Canadian history at Kenley than I thought. Makes me want to do a visit when we can.
This was the house, it was officers only I think, must try and find the photo we have of the house and the officers outside.
I would be up for that

I think old Queenie was way off the mark the other night when she said she hoped history would show this generation to be every bit as strong as those that came before.
If anything this has shown that a great deal of today’s generation are selfish , entitled twats.
Any comparison of the war generation are way off the mark. IMO
Would that include the looters, the black marketeers and professional criminals?
I know there was obviously crime and there was a huge black market that opened up but the general me me me attitude I’m seeing around me at the moment is just in stark contrast to the instructions everyone is being given.
I can hear a big gathering in one of my neighbours garden. Lots of children , Adults bbq.
My mum was a child in WWII and her grandfather was a butcher. They lived in Lincs - surounded by farms. She said that while rationing did make sure no-one starved, there was a lot of ‘off the record’ trading of foodstuffs. People looking out for their own families were the norm rather than the exception.
You could shop 'em. They are a genuine risk to public health.

There will be more and more of this while the weather is good if Manchester was anything to go by last weekend
Is there something special (in the least complimentary sense possible) about Manchester ? It’s hard to believe that a whole city’s population is as socially dysfunctional as Liam Gallagher or any member of The Happy Mondays. But the news keeps suggesting that they are. I’ve just been out into my small-town centre garden to check and there must be 30 or so gardens within ‘party noise’ earshot. Literally the only thing I can hear is the birds and the bees (and I don’t mean the neighbours shagging).

Walking into work (all the way from Portland Place to Oxford Circus) I passed 2 large groups of 20+ cyclists all huddled in tight groups.
Yes, you may be fit but that doesn’t make you or your family (or anyone else you come in contact with) immune YOU CUNTS !!!

From that article,
The men, aged 40-50, and women, aged 23-25,
Quelle surprise!
The isolation thing has had a big impact on the oldest profession, hope they got paid in advance.
Hancock has set a goal that everyone working in a critical role will get the PPE they need to protect themselves.
That’s a goal, really? It’s failure on a huge scale if you can’t do that.
