I think it was 1988, my (then) boss’s wife had one, he borrowed it to drive to Reading and asked (told) me to drop him off at Heathrow and drive it back to Teesside. His only instruction was be careful with it!

An illegal plate won’t have any impact on insurance. Not having a license though… that wil automatically invalidate any insurance.
Not always annoyingly, ask me how I know some insurance companies are a nightmare and will seemingly insure any idiot under circumstances they should not.
That particular example is immaculately maintained; it’s on a set of Michelin Sport Contacts that can’t be worth much less than the car at current resale. As the driver looks like Jason Statham’s Dad, I like to imagine it does swift exits from bank jobs for money.
