It all feels too easy - Surely there must be something worse out there? I fear an afternoon of ‘stairway to stardom’ coming on.

Mmmm maybe an album not a single is in order

In 1977 John Otway (& Wild Willy Barrett) were somehow allowed to play “Really Free” live on TotP. Now, as I remember it - the first performance was so breathtakingly fucking awful - due, presumably, to a mix of studio-incompetence, nerves and recreational-remedies - that they got a second go at it a week later.

I can’t find that first performance (did I dream it @stu?), but the second one is bad enough to deserve a place on the album you’re now compiling  (and which I will cheerfully pay a share of)…

At the time I remember thinking “Fucking hippie twats: this shit is exactly why punk exists!” - now it’s much more the sort of thing I listen to!

To my mind one of the best performances ever - for all the right reasons

Really like the look of these but I’ve never heard a standmount TL that doesn’t chuff more than a fat bloke climbing stairs :frowning:

Have still got some of the smaller Kralk speakers in the garage so I know he makes good speakers.

Curious, I’ve only heard a few cheap’n’nasty ones that did that. I actually owned a pair of the original PMC GB1s, and while they were certainly far from perfect, they made no port noise at-all.

Yikes, it was the PMC I really hated, bought the DB1 Gold on offer and they sounded like a steam train.

Maybe the profound inadequacies of the Fiddly Musicality electronics I used them with masked lesser shortcomings - or maybe the floorstanders just worked a bit better…

Imagine Kralk would make a better fist of things, come what may.

Only TL speakers I’ve ever had were quite big IMFs some years ago. They went very low,but not very defined.

ah the GB1 is a floor stander, heard some TDLs I really liked years ago but I think they have a sort of “fake bass” sound.

Now TDLs are one brand I’ve never heard sound much good - very disjointed bass - but plenty of folks seem to like 'em…
