But it would need to be rewitnessed.
So much is uncertain. Our Dad left money in his will to her. That is why she said she was leaving money to said relation. I need to see the will and make sure he gets legal advise.
I only know the lady who died; she and I were executors of my fathers will which was written on a Boots form leaving the entire estate to 8 Grandchildren at 18 years old who at the time were ranged from 16 years to 6 months. Itâs been a nightmare trying to keep it away from my personal investments because of the wording which looked as though all the dosh was left to us and no mention of Trust etc.
Anyway I digress. I always use a solicitor for our wills.
Iâm really sorry to read about all this. It all sounds fishy as fcuk to be honest.
Personally, if I had the time and energy Iâd go after them hard because it sounds like theyâve not only broken faith theyâve broken some pretty serious laws.
It also chafes like hell to just swallow someone taking the piss like that.
You ought to consult a solicitor who is a member of the
Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS), easy to find online.
A general practice or even a STEP qualified solicitor may not be up to this. The law and the rules relating to how such matters must be conducted can be a minefield for non-specialists.
Deleted by me!
My sister ran up legal bills of well over ÂŁ30k contesting her boyfriendâs will, and got fuck all. That was with an ACTAPS solicitor, who was actually pretty useless. Make sure @mickbald you ask for their experience in similar cases.
Exactly my worry. No way will we just chuck money at it. Hopefully a letter will scare them to do the right thing.
If not it might just give them serious sleep problems.
Yes.
A member of ACTAPS is a good suggestion. I passed on a mildly contentious matter to a litigator colleague last week.
Thank you
Iâve now seen the will and it looks to be fine. The date change coincided with her change of address and was initialled by all executors and witnesses. That was the only change.
So thanks to all, particularly @clap who pointed us in the right direction.
At least the question has been answered and there isnât a nagging doubt to fester and grow!
That is the most important bit. Life goes on.
A friend is looking for a lawyer to help with a dispute regarding some money he has loaned to someone as part of a business venture which has gone wrong.
Looking for someone who can help with dispute resolution and or debt recovery.
If anyone can offer advice or recommend someone please PM me.
Thanks.
I used this firm to recover a long unpaid 4 figure sum from a particularly unhelpful HiFi dealer.
The letter they sent was enough. It barely cost me anything as I recall.
If the legal route doesnât work and you get pushback then maybe another approach to considerâŚ?
His book is a good read if you havenât read it.
No I havenât will pick that up for a bit of light reading
