reads like a threat
Hoping to raise a few grand for The Barnsley Hospice again.
Free admittance?
No tickets required then?
Yep, no ticket required. Trying something different this year.
Must admit I’m very surprised.
Free admittance sounds like a good deal for customers, but how is that financially viable?
No free pens
Muffins @ £30
There are commercial exhibitors (Audio Note are one) so may be they are subsidising the costs?
£45
We are not running either the show or the forum for profit. We have a small group of trade exhibitors, which we hope will help towards forum costs going forward.
Where we are at risk is if someone earlier in the year asks for a room, then cancels months later, if we can’t find someone to take the room, then we have to pay it out of our own pockets.
Make everyone pay in advance and make them responsible for finding their room replacement?
It was hoped forum members would recall how these shows are put together & would remember we have to commit to filling a hotel in its entirety.
If they request a room, then cancel, it could jeopardise future show viability.
As Mav is non profit it therefore helps if members pay the hotel direct obvs.
I thought whatever was over and above what the show cost, that the excess funds would go towards possibly subsidising next years exhibitors. Especially the bigger rooms.
As it stands its a dear do.
I’d have thought the hotel would rather have more rooms/people wandering the coridors and using the bar.
We are looking at subsidising or paying for a conference room for a big system next year. We are starting from zero this year, as all the money raised by ticket sales etc went straight to the owner of the former place’s pockets.
We are hoping for maximum capacity, and free entry gives a higher chance of more people wandering the corridors and using the bar.
Oof.
Is there an exhibitor and kit list?
There will be imminently, I’ll put it up here as soon as I have completed it.
