Mince Pie Conformist hand wringing and tears

We differ only on the Christmas cake.
I love Christmas cake. In February. Fried in butter. With vanilla ice cream.

Always preferred 6/8 myself.

Agree, mostly. What did Mince Pies or Christmas Cake ever do for us ? Sweet, stodgy nonsense.

Bread sauce, on the other hand, can be a wondrous thing.

I may be a little biased when it comes to bread sauce, because an argument over the best way to make it brought me closer to divorce than any other issue in 28 years of marriage (literally true).

I would share the details, but it remains a deeply traumatic memory to this day.

But in any case, a sauce made out of bread is a fucking ridiculous idea.

Wow, I knew Iā€™d be outed sooner or later, but would never have predicted it would be this wayā€¦

Putting a marker down here and now:

Mince pies have the potential to be a fucking ecstatically Good Thing. As these threads endlessly demonstrate, mass-production sucks the soul WAY the fuck out of them, but the dream, the ideal, the imperishable notion of the Perfect Pie arches upwards into Heavenā€™s vault like the warm embrace of a Loving Godā€¦

And I fucking LOVE bread sauce. I make it just for me when I cook at xmas, and I eat the fucking lot like the greedy fat cunt I indubitably am

I made a pudding out of bread and butter (and some other stuff) yesterday and my sister and brother and brother-in-law and niece ate the lot. And seemed pleased with it, which was the point to be fair.

Haha same here, I crumble the cake up a bit for max butter absorption and sprinkle it over the ice cream.

Fried in butter might save it, I must admit,

No doubt, but in my case it would need some serious therapy to make it work.

Bread and butter pudding is slightly less ridiculous than bread sauce.

But still questionable.

I am not convinced by your evidence - we live in a world where large numbers of people are prone to support stupid ideas. Social media bollocks syndrome.

Still, if the family enjoyed it, a win is a win.

Jesus, how did I become such a miserable cuntā€¦

I fear I might have ended up that way if the fates had cruelly deprived me of the enjoyment of bread and butter pudding .

You are almost certainly the first person to make that assertion.

Luke warm trolling or a man bereft of senses - condolences

Edit: canā€™t be arsed with luke warm trolling, but could well be bereft of senses.

Further edit: Mrs horace says Iā€™m holistically bereft.

Assume you were straight on to the lawyers. Adequate grounds Iā€™d have thought. Keep one as evidence.

Given that mincemeat normally contains almonds anyway, I donā€™t think this is anything like the same degree of abomination as say adding chocolate to a mince pie.
