Moar booze. Every pint mj2 has drunk since 1986

Yeah, my thoughts too Gareth! Relegated from a ‘go to’ to a ‘has bean’ sadly.

Is the Brune similarly afflicted? The last time I bought it a few weeks ago, it was the full strength version.

No change to it soo far from wot I’ve seen. Last time I bought it it wuz t’ same with no dilution of abv.

Is the proper version still being sold or have they dropped the strength across the board in an attempt to become more mass market?

UK thing, I believe

They kind of did it by stealth sometime around spring IIRC. I’d been about to do a restock of one of the 12x330ml boxes & it wuz suddenly off the shelves for a few weeks & reappeared as the 6% version with no announcement.

Bollox! Hope I don’t get any for Christmas now.

I had a few bottles about two months ago and they were still six sixers. Maybe I got new old stock.

Used to get two 750ml bottles for a fiver. @6.5%.

Now it’s two 750ml bottles for seven quid @6%.

Gits.

There’s a Welsh guy who does beer reviews on YouTube and he did a back to back review of the full strength vs the 6% and he wasn’t impressed.

His conclusion:
[Dramatic Welsh accent]THEY’VE RIPPED THE HEART OUT OF IT!!![/Dramatic Welsh accent].

I tend to agree with him.

Depends where you got it, there’s a shop near me that imports the 6.6% stuff still, but a fiver a bottle, sooooo…

Why do they need to fck around with stuff like that. Brewdog tried it with Elvis Juice 6.5% to 5.1% in an effort to go mass market and it fcking bombed. Sales dropped so much they had to restore it to proper strength and taste.

Oof

Yeah, Ive managed to do a back to back & its now noticeably inferior. I’ve got a couple of the new ones that have been in the fridge fer awhile that hold little appeal other than for offloading on other folk.

Yip, It was one of the few quality beers you could get at a good price in a supermarket. I hope Jaipur don’t get any silly ideas. Not everyone wants to drink eight cans of 4.5% pisswater.

It’s the finish that is lacking, to my taste. It lacks the body of its predecessor.

Yeah pretty obviously really just thinned out & now lacking. Why simply fuckover a great winning formula??

Perhaps a strongly worded email is in order?

The rot set in when they went from caged corks to crown caps.

Perhaps. An economic decision, no doubt.
