While that video doesn’t paint Starmer’s minder in best light, it’s a well worn rule you don’t interrupt someone if they’re going full throttle, lest you get the reputation for talking over people. If she’d asked him a question or paused for breath, maybe he’d have said something. But they cut the video, conveniently, so we won’t know what happened.
He should have just asked her to sit down although she was in transmit only mode and playing to the camera.
Longish read on the flawed economics of both leadership contenders.
Everything they believe is being shown to be bad long term economics. Trickle down has been shown for the massive lie it is but that’s still their basic philosophy - support the wealthy and the rest will be grateful for crumbs
Sunaks desperate uturn on energy VAT is yet another example they they don’t actually have a worked out strategy, they’re just chasing votes
Good on ya Sam Tarry.
Starmer really is Tory light, they need to bin him
I really don’t understand this. As I see it, Starmer is a bit of a lawyer - he represents his party, without much of a personal slant on it. I see that as exactly what I want in a politician nowadays - I don’t want some big personality that goes on a massive crusade.
Starmer as grey leader with a left winger as deputy leader is perfect for me tbh. I think much of the Labour left has been suckered by the right wing media.
No, no. Let’s have a radical left-wing firebrand that middle-England is never going to vote for.
It’s honestly as if these clowns have never seen a constituency map or imagine their socially progressive policies will be adopted purely by osmosis or twitter memes, rather than winning a general election.
Not as if people haven’t known it for a while.
Absolutely! I’ll be voting Lib Dem ![]()
Do what you need to do.
I’ve been historically critical of tactical voting but have shifted my opinion in the face of an existential threat.
He’s not enough of an alternative to the Tory’s to give uncertain people a clear decision. I just can’t vote Tory because they are nasty cunts, so the Labour leader is almost irrelevant to me (as per Mark, I’ll be voting for whichever party might beat the Torys in my area). But for anyone wondering who to vote for, at the moment you get ‘keep the foreigners out’ Tory’s or ‘I’m not sure what a women is’ labour*. Politics IS about personality for many and Starmer is ‘meh’.
*A work colleague described the two parties like this. You can guess who he votes for…
Labour need to stop hand wringing, pick one or two issues and oppose the Tories so people can make a choice. I suspect a lot of people would vote for them if they just said they’d reverse Brexit. Make it a single issue election (like the last one to some degree). But Starmer has ruled that out, he’s vague about dealing with privatisation, he’s vague about corruption, what the fuck would he do if he got the job?
I’m no fan of Starmer, but I’ll vote for him all day long over the tories.
Let’s start with that bit because Corbyn didn’t. Twice.
For all the distinctiveness of the policies, none of them actually happened and the country has gone a long way in the other direction.
Yep, he’s first job as opposition leader is to become PM. At the moment, he and his party are seemingly doing everything to make that a hard choice when the swivel eyed loons in blue should be a total pushover.
Welcome to the world of negative politics. It’s not about what you would do, it’s about how bad the other lot are. Two years out from a GE and the Tory Party are busy ripping themselves several new arseholes every week. Starmers must effective tactic is to let them carry on and to do that he needs to be non committal. The Tory Party and press will round on Starmer the second he puts himself front and centre. 6 months out from an election it will be a different game.
I want full PR, dont think Labour will deliver that because they are just as cunty as the Tories in that respect. I’ll still vote for them as my constituency is a two horse race that doesn’t involve the LDs.
The left would rather be victims raging from the sidelines about media conspiracies and how unfair it is rather than accept a level of pragmatism is required.
This attitude is a significant factor in why we have a shit Tory government.
Exactly what I shall be doing, for the first time ever.
I don’t care who I vote for as long as it is the most damaging it can possibly be for this Tory government.
Right now I’d be quite happy to vote for a PG Tips chimpanzee in a rosette so long as it wasn’t blue,to oust this toxic bunch of self absorbed vermin.
