How it works is, you make a hypothesis - in this case it’s being done to disenfranchise poor/ethnic minority voters, then you provide some evidence - in this case testimony from JRM, and the actions of known racist and fascist Donald J. Trump. Not provable, but a decent hypothesis nonetheless.
Your hypothesis: Lefties and some curve or other.

Then I said wetting your pants over a politician letting an idea out, then shifting the emphasis to go with the prevailing wind was hardly sensible as it was hardly new!
Long after that I said my opinion was that it was more likely to be an attempt to head off a future problem (voter fraud is now in the public consciousness). I disagreed with trying to draw any parallel with Trump as I don’t see a party in power who would really want what he did given their current voter base.

If only. My desk is littered with card readers and now every time I want to check my balance I have to remember a username, a PIN number and a password and then be ready to accept a one-time code SMS’d from them to my phone (and only my phone) which I then have to send back to them via a different channel. And I have to repeat most of that if, during the same session, I also want to pay my paper bill. And the worst thing is that it doesn’t work. They lost north of £150,000,000 last year alone (and that’s presumably what they were prepared to admit to losing) Online banking: fraud losses 2010-2020 | Statista. All this was achieved by some lads operating out of slums in Lagos and bombed out buildings in Chechnya. Imagine what the Chinese and Russian states could do if they were interested …

Cheered to see the good people of Glasgow resisting the home office’s attempts to deport two individuals, surrounding the van until eventually the police insisted the two be released and be returned to their community. Great to see some resistance to Priti Patel’s hostile environment.
