I have some sympathy though. I just got back from a clothes shop where, a couple of weeks ago, I happened upon a shirt I like. XL fitted me. They have several in S and several more M and in a range of colours in both those sizes. They have a couple in L. In XL they had one. I bought it. I’d like a couple more but I’ve just been back and there are still none. I suspect my chances are zero.

I don’t know how the buying works, but go outside people and take a look around. This is Didcot, England in the 21st century. How many S sized men can you see ? Why did you buy in so many S ones and so few XLs ? Or did you buy the same number of both and, surprise, surprise, all the XLs sold ?

I thought the thing about free market economics was supposed to be that by some miracle it delivers to the customers what they want.

I have given-up. Jacamo for everything - most things go up to 3XL, albeit sizing is somewhat random. It’s an easy and free process to bung stuff back in the post, and although they don’t say it on the website, they expect you to order everything in 2 or 3 sizes and send the no-fits back. Discovered that after giving customer services a grilling for the random sizings and fits - they were genuinely amazed I was stupid enough to order things in just one size… :man_facepalming:

I learnt that ages ago, when buying shoes I found that depending on the last I was either a 7.5 or an 8.
I mentioned this to a woman at work who said ā€˜order both and send one back’ and looked at me as if I was an idiot.
She said women always take at least two sizes of clothes into a fitting room in a high St store so just do the same online and have been doing so forever.
This is why shops with free returns do better than those who don’t offer free returns.

I suppose. I like to feel the cloth though and check whether the buttons are going to fall off in 3 years or 3 weeks. The workshop isn’t very warm in the winter so a bit of weight in the fabric is nice. And I like lots of cotton and not too much plastic. Plus if I can find what I want in a shop then I can have it now.

The sad thing is they’ve gone to all the trouble to set up a shop, recruit staff, tempt me in. They’re almost there. They just need to get the stock sorted.

I understand, trust me, I’d rather do things that way too, but let’s face it - you’re not freakishly tall, and at worst only a mite overweight - yet you can’t find clothes! No chance whatsoever for a spinning-top shaped sack o’shite like myself! Whoever does the ordering for clothing shops is invariably a moron, as evidenced by the end-of-season sales, where it’s nowt but dozens of ā€œXSā€ and ā€œXXXLā€ on the racks…

Nope, not where I can see. Debenhams have a good line in larger waist jeans for short people with chicken legs who want skinny fit…

I struggle to even order online. (Jacamo has 1 pair of trousers in my size)

We have even had to start ordering online now for my 14yo son, no stores carry his trouser size (36/38 waist 36 inseam).

I buy most things in department stores in the states.

Nation: #FatterThanEver
Fashion Designers: Yay! Skinny jeans are IN! Especially in old-people shops like M&S! Yay!

Cunts! :rage:

The documentary on that peice was fascinating, took a long time for the experts to work out the sliding pin element. If that ship hadn’t sunk with one onboard we may never have known about them.

What a fucking dripping wanker he is. Most high Street shops, Inc the plus size ones, sell shit cheap clothes. Unless driven there by economics and convenience why would anyone use them.

I’m not exactly a slim fit but have no problems sourcing half decent clothes. All my shirts are quality brands bought in sales at TK for a fifth of the price, trousers from Meyer, jeans from wrangler. Elstatolene is fucking ace in wranglers :grinning:

But the stuff in TK is soooo last season.

You are a bona fide giant, mind.

Yes, well, I didn’t think so but apparently 6’4ā€ puts you in the 99th percentile.

Still, the size ranges always do seem pretty poor.

Lol, timeless, that’s the gear to get. Aka, stuff old blokes wear.

Hebtroco do some trousers with unfinished 37" legs if it’s any help.

Governor canvas maybe?

Not the cheapest mind.

XS and XXXL works for me.
I can either wear it or use it as a tent.
