Jochen Mass, 78.

Started working life in the Merchant Navy before going to work at a Alfa Romeo dealership where he got his first taste of racing.

Obviously raced in F1 but spent more years in sportscar racing, including 11 entries and 9 wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

I can remember one game where the team defending broke away , an attacker bombing up the pitch and the camera picked up the only one who was up with play was Rennie.

That’s very sad. Reports a while ago said that he was starting to learn to walk again after his lower limb paralysis, but it seems that cancer got him. He had just been made Chancellor of my old employer, and he’d have made a very good one.
RIP.
