Pick me a Scooby (that went RONG) including exploration into Dacia & giving up

Strange:
Dacia - a renault in a cheap suit - reliable.
SpamChum - a mercedes in a cheap suit - unreliable piece of crap.

Also be aware they (FlungDung) went bust earlier this year and are being bought by an electric bus company. So I’d avoid them like you’d want to avoid Infinity who now have 2 dealers in the UK and don’t really do the warranty thing any more apparently.

3 hours…

0-60 time?

Still like it, 55.5 MPG with 600 miles on the clock.

Any good, they seem a bargain.

Is they much room in the back with back seats down?

Bought a Dacia Sandero for my daughter four years ago
£6750 Otr. Been a great little car ave 45 mpg never let her down in 66000 miles only needed routine service and a set of tyres. Buy my car offered £4400 a couple of weeks ago. Provided brand snobbery doesn’t bother you it’s unbelievable VFM.

Our new Duster arrives sometime February. The offer for our current one was too good to turn down.

The only reason we haven’t ordered a new Sandero is the 4 month wait for delivery

I’m happy to wait. The trade-in means we’ll be paying less p/month. 2nd hand prices are bonkers right now

I have a 2021 model as it was new and in stock on site, 2022 models have a few more refinements, but with the issues above I couldn’t really wait. . .plus the garage is the closest to where I work.

Properly pleased with it so far to be honest.

The boot is big to begin with but with the seats down its a cave. They don’t fold flat however, but meh…the boot lid is handy to hide from the rain under.

It’s really easy to drive with plenty of torque from the 1.5dci engine, steering is direct, but lacks any real feel, brakes are fine, gear box is short in first gear but good for crawling in traffic, and has a nice short throw with good gates.
The all round parking cameras are handy, the DAB radio works and sounds fine, it plays music off a USB stick, the Satnav seems okay so far, I haven’t got lost.

It could do with a foot rest next to the clutch, but it’s not a deal breaker.

The seats hold you in place and are supportative over my 30-45 min commute, I haven’t driven any longer than this in it yet.

The ride is quite good, it’s a bit jiggley at low speed but settles down as speed rises. It’s quiet enough, not a lot of wind noise, the engine is also quiet for a diesel and doesn’t put much vibration into the cabin.
Handling is neat and tidy, it does roll a little, but not as much as you might think and grip is obviously front end limited as you would expect these days, but it’s fine, it’s not a sports car.
Mid corner bumps do catch the rear out sometimes and it can ‘hop’ very briefly before sitting down again.

I like the higher driving position, gives a good view around.

A few silly annoying things, the boot parcel shelf sometimes rattles, will look at a bit of foam for that I think, and the infotainment screen is a bit low on the dash causing you to sometimes look down and away, also I’m having to get used to the keyless entry/start thing, it’s okay but not natural for me yet.
Minor things really I guess in the great scheme of things.

Donna, Sam and Amy are surprised by it after initially thinking I’d lost my mind…which is nice…

Mum and Dad found some old photos the otherday, so I popped around and picked them up.

These are from a track day at Donnington Park, miss that Italian Job, it was lovely on the road, if nowhere near the weapon the blue Cooper was.

My first car was a 1971 mini 850 that same colour.

Could my next car really have a Rotary engine afterall?!

Can’t you just pick up an RX8 for £50, scratch the itch and then never mention it again? :kissing_heart::grin:

Yeah, but that just wouldn’t be the same would it? :grinning:

Makes sense for a range-extender application - smaller, lighter.

Or if your really must have rotary. Then have the absolute pinnacle.
Might be a little impractical for Rob and the kids though.
