*The Hobbit * was the first “anime” I remember seeing. There was also a sequel, The Return of The King, which blended elements of TLOTR trilogy and The Hobbit into one television movie.

That time Tracy Ullman transformed from a pop singer into an actor/comic and host of a musical comedy variety show that included a recurring short animated segment called The Simpsons

There was also a cinema relesae animated version of LOTR that I remember going to see at the time although they only made one film and didn’t cover the whole story (although Tom Bombadil was in it)

There was an album too by Bo Haannson although I am not sure if the two were related
