Heavy cunt - arrived on a pallet … then I had to take it up a floor to test it and wire-in some heavy-duty flyleads…
It was supposed to be 12" high, and had it been, I could at least have semi-hidden it on the bookshelf - but no, it’s 14"…
But fuck me does it work!

Radio 3 via Bluetooth sounds like it’s coming from a top-of-the-range Magnum Dynalab! Really shows on voices in particular. Should have tried one a LOT sooner…
Part of that will be the isolation, but I think the fact it’s tapped for 250VAC, 240VAC or 230VAC in and 230VAC out is part: pre and DAC have stopped their saturating-transformer noises (not DC offset: high-capacity blockers in-situ).

There are safety issues as domestic equipment is designed to operate from single-end mains where neutral is bonded to earth and therefore at 0V. That’s why it’s generally not recommended.
These can be overcome if you know what you are doing, but most people are clueless so the safe advice is don’t.
Yeah, it’s not something I’d be fucking about with on my own, I know my limitations! I suppose factoring in the cost of an appropriate professional would need to be considered.
