Am reminded of Nottingham Analogueās version of a Digital to Analogue convertor.
Iāve looked at those but spendy. How long have you had it and what do you think?

I have had it 18?? months. I like it. I was using a very expensive dac, with ESS 9018 dacs, and valve output stage. I the the Holo is warmer, and more musical.
I think I have an older Spring dac?

Excellent, thanks. Will be some time before I actually buy a DAC though Iām looking already.
The Gustard R26 and Holo Spring 3 Level 2 or KTE are alternatives you should consider.
Yep to all of those. GD-Audio R8 or R7, and Musician Aquarius are also on the long-list list. All - happily - scarce used it seems.

XRCD takes me back. Remembering getting a couple at a hifi show way back in the day, sounded sublime back when I had the Audio Analogue Maestro CDP. Just shows that the tech was out there many years ago and you didnāt need silly priced players nor HIRES stickers on everything.

Funny, one sound Iāve been chasing is the Unison Research CDE I had ~15 years ago: brilliant bit of kit!

Iād say go buy another,but Iāve done similar and ended up feeling disappointed 2nd time round on stuff I really rated first time.
Not sure why this happens,maybe it was just a synergy thing with the current kit I was using

I sometimes pine for my Triangle NaĆÆas, but apart from midrange vocal articulation, the Singing Washing-machines absolutely destroy them in every way.

As one who doesnāt want to die wondering, last month I bought a demo Brinkmann Balance from Lotus, it was delivered and set up today. The cart is new so needs some hours but fuck me, the bass is exceptional.

Yep - but the good news is you can buy your 1.1S back off me now: itās had LOADS more upgradesā¦
I had EVERY intention of buying a modern discrete-resistor R-2R DAC with fancy clocks &c, Iād even started making a list, with bullet pointsā¦
But then, before that, I was going to buy an ANK 4.1 and tweak it a bit, soā¦
Itches is fer scritchinā and I have fleas right nowā¦
