Tis now…
Very impressed with the M7’s sq, but a few hum issues to sort… :grimacing:

Yes that’s how Guy describes it in the manual.

That’s not the M7, probably the cheap phono stage you’ve got attached :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

How many boxes for one Stereo?

13, good job I’m not superstitious

Yes. And Schottky rectifier diodes. Some real thought has gone into that PSU, and for a phono stage it matters more than most. There can’t be much out there this well thought-through and implemented for that kind of money, and certainly not using valves.

What’s channel separation like I wonder - I know this is dual-triodes used as god intended, but I’ve always wondered if it has any effect on crosstalk…?

Mind - as Donk’s latest black-box demonstrates, a bit of well-implemented x-talk can be a surprisingly beneficial thing…

Very bluddy nice Jim.

Hum might be a sketchy or poorly-seated valve, or it might be cos you’ve parked one highly-sensitive pre-amp on top of another… :woman_facepalming: :person_facepalming: :man_facepalming:

(Or TBF, a dozen things or more…)

When’s the bakeoff?

Good spot.

That M7 was silent with 105dB horns so may be worth trying to earth external kit back to the M7 phono earth screw.

@sjs is a guru on that and did get it silent

It did travel home sideways in the back footwell of a german car

Amazed it works at-all!

No badgers involved

Well, it’s deathly quiet with just the SITs connected to the horns but when a pre is then connected (either Preda or M7) the mains hum is pretty bad. :grimacing:
Pete has been very helpful with some ideas on a fix, so hopefully everything will soon be sorted. :+1:

A couple of changes, first it was ‘battle of the amps’, with a CJ premier 350 muscling out the Dynavector, not really a fair fight. Then a lovely pair of Gershman Avant Garde speakers ousted the Obelisks.
Thanks to Nick for letting me try the Gershman’s out before committing, first time I’ve done it properly. Fuck knows how I’m going to fit the CJ in my cupboard, but it sounds better so what else matters :grimacing:

Are you sure you want that pot plant on top? It always ends in tears in my experience.

Always found that Gershmans to have a fantastic natural sound every time I’ve heard them. Given their size they’re amazing.

The plant pot is not exactly precarious - the bass bins are about 3 feet thick :grinning:

Oops sounds like you have already invested - anyway…

Isn’t there one sat of top of the other speaker?
