Bye bye Linn, hello inky blacks etc…

[Hold on, operator error - sorry this should be in the ‘what am I listening to…’ thread] @moderators
Quite adequate.
Oof, have they done a job on this… Wow.
Ohh, I heard this was supposed to be really nice…I suspect your post may prove spendy.
The tape i presume?
No that’s the record. The tapes are in an even bigger box
Not new things but things out of storage
Inspired by the arrival of Dave’s vinyl I feel a mass cleaning session coming on. I was planning to sell the Hanns when the Velvet Vortex arrived but I think that using the Hanns to vacuum up excess liquid and dust is the better solution.
It’s weirdly addictive, having a vac would probably send me over the edge!
Unpacked another review product this afternoon.
Yep, it’s a new (‘new’) Musical Fidelity A1 and that warning is not without foundation…
It does sound quite nice though. £1,500 to you and in the demented world of 2023, that doesn’t feel terrible.*
*notwithstanding it will cost £1,500 a year, every year to run it.
Used to love mine. Convinced my flatmates broke the fucker.
£1500 though. Hahahaaaa.
Is this supposed to be knowingly ‘ironic’ or are they championing bad taste?
To be honest, it’s six of one and half a dozen of the other. Retro is doing well at the moment; seen a new NAD amplifier recently? but I also suspect that given it still runs like an oven, the same basic casework is needed unless you wanted to make it quite a lot bigger.
When retro is good it’s great that thing reminds me of watching ‘get stuffed’ and getting a lift home on the back of milk floats.
The original one would actually cook itself. Hope this is better arranged. Hasn’t anyone told them that Air Fryers are the thing these days? The whole George Foreman vibe is so passe.
I was remembering my FiL fondling one of those in HiFi [something or other] on George Street in Edinburgh when it struck me that he died that night or maybe the next.
Unrelated to the amp, I hasten to add.
Looks ace. What’s the box top right ?
