Shiny brand new second hand things in my system today V1.2

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

At this point it would prolly have been cheaper & easier to just have kept the Dreiklangs!

So, 50+ albums into this new cartridge and I have been playing with a few things.

Through the Allnic phono, for now I have settled on the x26 gain/117ohm impedance setting (out of the four available gain/impedance configurations). This has definitely opened out the sound, adding a bit of “air”(?).

I have also raised the tonearm base on the Technics by 0.5 tonight which has added some higher frequency emphasis.

In conclusion, still playing with it.

Comparing it to the Hana ML it replaced, what it lacks in finesse/detail/air is more than made up by it’s punch/verve. I am so bad at describing this stuff.

Also, I need to get my ears hoovered after 10 days of sea swimming. Living up to my AA handle, unfortunately.

Lol, do miss the bass though, hence the sub. Plus side is I can now see out the window into the garden.

Sub has 2x10" drivers so still only the same cone area as one fridge bass driver

The Right dis-honorable @murrayjohnson popped over yesterday bearing gifts (Loan actually)
I’ve been excited to hear this cartridge because Guy’s made the ‘Segno’ to his own specifications:

  • Line Contact Styli / SmCo magnets / Titanium cantilever / Silver coils… All very promising.

Playing about with set up (It’s an easy one to set up with nice threaded lugs / straight sides etc)

Not really going to get into word salad here. I’m most partial to nonsense but this thing is serious. You’d have a very nice time if you get to demo one of these - You will then feel quite depressed - Why? Because this thing is less than £1K and may well embarrass your expensive pride and joy.

Sorry / Not sorry.

PM Guy for further info / pagan blessings etc.

It will come as little surprise the following in no way captures much of what this thing does, nor am I suggesting you-tube listening is a sensible gauge of sound. Here comes the ‘however’… I’m rubbish at reviews so, although minuscule, the following film might offer you a quarter of a clue what I’m prattling on about

Will definitely be up for one of these as the egg-yolk fuelled listens I’ve had at Lopwell are enough to rouse the curiosity. The Hana SL Guy provided a few years back has been a belter so I trust his judgement.

Yes, the Red one at Lopwell sounded solid on everything it had to endure. Listening in my own room today pushes it further in my already favorable view.

Have you still got a Viv 7 inch arm that you could try it on? :folded_hands:

Sadly not at the moment.

What output is it?

Exactly the same here. SL to Segno for the win

My local housetrained dealer had one of these in stock. Circa 20 hour from a well known customer of theirs, at a superb price. So popped over at lunch time and picked it up!

Excited to try it. I loved my Hana umami blue, and apparently this new mk2 has some of the same
Components.

I have a MkI on my TT2 at the moment and a spare. It’s highly likely that my next cart will be one of @murrayjohnson 's Segno’s.

Another year or so and I’ll be in the same position

Mince pie demo might be in order and yes it’s nearly time to open up the thread

I heard one at the spinning rooms and liked it straight away so I bought one. It’s done about 10 records this week and is still settling down but I’ve got to say it’s impressive straight out of the box. Guy knows his stuff that’s for sure. I think it might be my new favourite cartridge.
