Shiny brand new second hand things in my system today V1.2

Thankfully, Mrs TMC has finally been able to hand her notice in there as she’s got a new job starting in December. She’s so glad to be out, she’s been treated very poorly, and so much of her work has ended up just being pissing in the wind due to senior management. Interestingly, unlike recent departures from her team, they’ve actually made something of a concerted effort to keep her, including offering a salary bump that would require sign-off from the CEO (anything over a certain percentage increase requires his approval apparently), but it’s all far too little, far too late, and they still weren’t able to include guarantees on a few dealbreakers, particularly around being able to access more training.

ART stiletto, bought these for the bedroom to go on the end of a Fosi amp and SBT.

Wasn’t expecting much for £350 but the bass from these miniscule drivers is really impressive

Playing with an arm lift device called the little fwend - There’s been many similar things on the market over the years - This one however is satisfyingly well machined and does precisely what it’s supposed to do. The finish and tollerances are really nice. It locates on a magnetic pad comes in two sizes and saves your stylus scuttling over record labels or dragging round locked grooves becasue you drank too much Ovaltine.

Have you been tempted by the Flatten-It yet, Matt?

Few friends have that and the obr etc etc, the results are very hit and miss depending on the type of damage

I tried doing some between a pair of Tenutos in a domestic oven recently and it worked surprisingly well. One that needed to go back for a second dose but otherwise ok.

Lots of different temperatures for different record labels etc I’ll see if I can find the list - Slow and low with a long cool down is the key

Here you go @murrayjohnson - There’s loads more to faff with

Not keeping, just playing with it for a few days. A friend of mine is having it on demo and I picked it up for him. He won’t pick it up till Sunday so I figured I’d see what I thought!

Indeed I rather thought so too which is why I’ve never tried it - I’m unlear if the times are for a switched off oven (I.e heat to 200, switch off and bung the records into a cooling oven. Still seems way too hot for my liking.

In other important news:

Probably the best flattener is the AFI

I had rather hoped to get one of these but things went south sadly…

At the other end of the scale is the ‘Vinyl flat’

Inexpensive and comes with a heating bag that slowly warms and cools - The time these things take is considerable. 2–4 hours of warming time and 2–3 hours of cooling.
