Shiny brand new second hand things in my system today

It was well regarded in the states.

It’s made in China as is much electronics now but it’s mostly designed in the UK and it’s well engineered.

Certainly no worse than many other brands indeed they probably have the resources to do it better than the more ‘boutique’ companies.

Sounds like counter-rotating magnetic flux to me :+1:

I saw a very good review of the CA somewhere. British company, their products are always at least decent. I’m.plessed to see them making higher end kit.

Cambridge Audio Edge looks very nice.

Cambridge Audio Alva, however, looks VERY interesting.

2 years back , i sat with about 20 very enthusiastic cambridge audio engineers and employees visiting the bristol show listening to some blades . its nice to see their products on the high street

I have had a CA streamer for a few years. Solid bit of kit, well priced and I would buy CA again. No reason to expect that their high-end stuff is not of the requisite quality. I have not heard the Edge stuff and so cannot comment on it.

Brand perception will of course play a part in most purchases. Some people crave exclusivity, and since CA are associated with Richer Sounds, it may deter such seekers of esteem.

This is only true in the UK. In Straya CA would rank somewhere between Marantz and Cyrus and is sold only via specialist dealers. This means that it is a premium brand. Strayan consumer Hi-Fi needs moar plastic, drivers and flashing lights to be viable.

Google JB Hi Fi to see what I mean. It is like a bastard amalgam of Curry’s and Fopp without any of the good bits but with loads of be-mulleted bogans buying Cold Chisel and AC/DC reissues.

:rage:

I akchurly guffawed at the description of JBH. Too accurate to argue with.

I’m tying to find a insult vile enough to capture my contempt for JB Hi-Fi but failing miserably. It plays the same role for record and hi fi shops that Runcorn plays to millionaire lifestyle, but with added cuntz.

People without the local knowledge the sheer awfulness of Runcorn is a sight to behold. Think chemical plants, warehouses and lots of dual carrageways with a couple of bridges. Like Luton really.

It lacks the warmth, beauty and architectural magnificence of Luton though. And the people in Luton are much nicer.

A foo free zone.

Da fuq is wrong with AC :zap: DC? Well, apart from the rampant Misogyny… In all other respects they are/were amazing. Maybe it’s a guilty pleasure but I love them!

I worked on the development of a fucking massive waste incinerator in Runcorn. When it came to the emissions levels, it was found that the stack emissions were lower than the prevailing levels in Runcorn. Basically, having a waste incinerator actually cleaned up the air.

It is the bemulleted bogan doing the buying that is important. Acca Dacca are ok I suppose. Cold Chisel are cunts though. Their music is second division pub rock and their vocalist should be incinerated.

Do you not think Jan 4th is just a little bit fucking early

Indeed Runcorn has a lot to answer for it seems.
