My post-retirement project as a Tik Tok influencer is not going as well as I would hope.
Me - Watches video about Focke-Wulf FW190
YouTube algorithm - Oh, I see you like Nazis
Me - WTF happened
Facebook dumped years ago, it was just an open sewer.
You tube mainly sends me Chess, Sailing, Golf, Cats and Music. (and some politics)
I am not sure what I did to get the cats, maybe you donāt need to do anything and they are lumped in with the package?
Insta, I follow a few people but forget about it most of the time, I never post.
X, I dumped for Musk reasons.
Blue Sky, Have joined but not really engaged.
Spend far too much of my time in the slough of despond that is AA
Like quite a few whoāve posted, I keep Faecesbook mainly for old school friends and other people who would otherwise drop off the radar. And because occasionally I have a gig to promote, not that I have much of a reach, as I post so little. I quite like Instagram, though again I rarely post. But as Paul said above, you get out what you put in, and it actually feeds me quite a bit of interesting stuff. X.. I had a Twitter profile, but havenāt used it for years.. I think that might have ported over to X, but I have no idea as I am not inspired to engage with it at all. And then thereās this place, which it probably feels like Iām not even present in, as I post so rarely, but actually I love it, and it provides me with lots of internet-security-blanket moments along the way. I quite like the juxtaposition, particularly this winter when I was in Goa for a couple of months, of just checking on whatās being discussed here, while sipping a chai under a palm tree. Or having a coffee on some mountaintop on the sadly rare occasions when I manage to go snowboarding,
Facebook cause Iāve had it for over fifteen years and I have some distant family and friends on it. Not posted in years. Donāt really use insta, not even got a login for TikTok.
Twitter barely used now either as itās full of right wing crackpots. Bluesky Iām on but not really engaged. On here and Reddit are my most frequented. I find Reddit useful for local news and things I have a passing interest in like watches, woodwork, band pages. Stuff I like to keep up to date on really but not that into Iād be a frequent poster.
I use Facebook for stalking and seeing if anyone managed to wreck there younger life as much as myself, and buying and selling. Instagram a bit. Ditched all the others though occasionally go on bs. Iām sick of all the politics from the left and right and it just winds me up.
YouTube I love and probably spend the most time on
Not sure why I found it surprising that YouTube is the second largest search engine after Google.
Also thought this was actually interesting policy, Australia is the first country to ban social media access for individuals under the age of 16. (Although by banning it a will likely make a % of kids A) want it more and B) get more devious.
