Now doesn’t cover TNT’s games.
The 360 stuff is not utterly hateful in use, which is a step up on its reputation at least.
We always love the 18 monthly “thinking of leaving” chat, especially as VM don’t do joint accounts so they don’t speak to MrsKettle unless I say they can. It is a little slice of Project 2025 in media company form.
It’s getting a bit silly now. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve had to acknowledge that I’ve read their message about the switch to 360.
I was ambivalent but now they’ve annoyed me so much that I’m going to stay with the V6 until the bitter end.
They refused several times to upgrade my ancient Hub 3 so when it eventually broke down I thought great, I’ll get a new one now. No. They sent me another Hub 3. In the end I gave up, put the Hub 3 in modem mode and bought a wifi 7 router.
That fiasco combined with the endless traumas endured over the years with their totally inept billing department means I’m inclined not to co-operate with VM unless I have to.
We can hold hands as we drive the car off the cliff together ![]()
I don’t understand the strategy, really. I’m sure they could contractually mandate the swap over and turn off the TiVo service, but I suspect their logistics couldn’t handle swapping out the numbers needed.
I’m sure it can’t be long though.
My feeling is that if they had the ability to force through the change they would have done so already. You cannot underestimate the incompetence of VM.
It is actually still the same box (at least it was for us), only the remote changes. Does mean I still have optical out for my prehistoric AV connectivity.
Finally dropped Sky last week, it took 5 statements of “just cancel the contract” each of which was counter-offered increasingly aggressively with a revised cheaper package before I actually got them to understand it wasn’t a bargaining tactic.
sick of em all, far to much money, and increasingly the stuff we may actually want to watch is now smeared across an increasing number of different services when it used to be in one place, each which has to be paid for individually
Disney+ also binned off, £60/yr 6 years ago, now £150 ! Do One !!!
Sky channels
Disney+
Netflix
HBO Max
Paramount+
Apple TV
Amazon Prime
DAZN
BT Sport/TNT/Discovery+/whateverthehellnext
Sky Sports
HD extra forcryingoutloud
remove adds for much much extra
more people in the house so simultaneous streaming = kerching
2nd box due to multi-occupancy = more cash
4K UHD yet more money
hateful pond scum the lot of them
I quite like this.
There’s an app called TV Launcher, which for £5.99 provides a TV guide and launches the programme in the relevant player (iPlayer, ITVx etc; can also do sky apparently). It basically does live TV without an aerial.
Given that the only channels we watch are BBC 1, 2 & 4 and Channel 4, this is probably all we need. It has all the streaming services and a nice UI.
I’ll buy another for the spare room TV. The kids probably don’t want one as they have smart TVs and don’t actually know what live TV is!
Thanks for the rec xxx I would never have considered it otherwise.
I have seen a TV Launcher demo, it looks a decent workaround for converting a guide into watchable channels.
The xxx was put in there by my phone btw. I’m not the kind of cunt that puts xxx into messages, I’m the other kind.
