Firm punch to the baws for whoever is running Budapest airport… queued for 30 mins in a corridor only to discover I was queuing to get to the queue. I appreciate this is not the salient point, but was the car itself not registered to your address? Can you have the insurance at one address and the car registration at another? That feels like the sort of thing insurers wouldn’t allow.

Are you sure ? I suspect there’s been a confusion about the wording.
We pay basic rate tax on income up to £37,700. Then higher rate applies to the lucky ones above that.
But that’s income above the £12,570 personal allowance (the allowance isn’t taxed). So high rate kicks in at £50,270 total.
