Yes, Eccles cakes are lovely. There’s a bakery on neighbouring Yell that makes them and they’re about the best I’ve tasted

My satin pyjama clad neighbour called this morning & said that in the small hours he’d had to see off some itinerant vagabond, dislodging him from the tree with a javelin before the rogue was set upon by Kurt, his Newfoundland. Kurt became over excited during the ensuing melee & may have exchanged DNA.with the intruder, so if that was you, I can only apologise & hope that it washes out.

The best out of a box so far and by quite a long way. They are really good and smell delicious! Best mince out of any I have tried regardless of origin. A nicely balanced mix of fruit, peel and cinnamon with a satisfying touch of cognac. The pastry was quite different to any other thus far too. Was really buttery and quite cakey for want of a better term. We kind of feel the pastry from yesterday’s Gails offering was more to our liking but whether they would be so well balanced with a different case would be another question… Maybe these were a bit on the large side. Definitely getting the feeling that size is important… These are the best so far from a box though and at £10.95 for 6 they bloody should be!
