The Monarchy (now mostly about money)

Yes,saw that earlier and was surprised.

Must grate with cruella after she rushed through that Bill yesterday to prevent this.

Looks quite flammable. Especially the Made in China flag…

They’ll be relying on two days of steady rain dealing with that.

I remember when this used to be a free country.

They were warned and spoken with, this video shows that. They were arrested under section 12 of the public order act which has been in place since 1986.

Can’t really talk more about it than that though as it probably involved lots more to and fro between the police and the liaison from the protesters.

It’s easy to make any situation look bad showing the last 10 seconds of an incident that may have lasted an hour or more.

Still the best protest / arrest ever recorded

This caller has smashed it, an unscripted, articulate overview which is hard to argue against.
Well worth a listen.

Unfortunately the Met seem to arrived with a really unhelpful attitude locked and ready to go

Little more than a threat that dissent will be met with violence.

It’s the traditional British way though. Violence has been successfully deployed upon the plebes for centuries. I for one welcome our Jug-Eared Overlord*.

*For the benefit of the hard of thinking, this is clearly a lie.

I may watch the coronation now just for a bit of miners strike type action

I’m a bit confused. The Met are there to enforce the law. When has undermining a celebration been against any law? They are behaving like a paramilitary organisation as opposed to a police force.
Personally I think it will have the opposite result. Using threatening language like that is going to encourage more people into action than if they had kept their mouth shut.

Inequality and elitism are in stark relief as tax payers money is spent celebrating Gods favored British family while people struggle terribly. - Agreed.

Things gets trickier though when the caller brings Brexit into the debate. Why? because morons voted for it. This begs the question (s): "Should the monarchy be dissolved, precisely who / what do we replace it with? How would a new republic be decided? Our recent experience of placing the destiny of the country into the hands of it’s inhabitants is a tad discouraging.

Affording greater status / power to the ruling political party may be somewhat moronic too. There is no question magic blood is nonsense as is elitism, the problem is: An uneducated populous, nationalism, and a trifling thousand + year class system. There are very intelligent arguments against the monarchy but I have seen precious little offered by way of superior (sane) alternative.

It’s all a moot point really, the majority of the British public actually want a jug eared geriatric as their figurehead, these same people will cheer when it’s Wills turn too.

Why would we need to replace it with anything? A genuine question!

I think people would be happier if this 250 mill farce was toned down.
Spending more care and money on a stone over your own citizens isn’t a great look.

If it was their own money being spent I’d bet it wouldn’t cost Ā£100 million. Either let them pay for it themselves or get the WI out rattling cans for people to chip in. Under no circumstances should that money be coming from the public purse.

I’m in favour of the royal family but why do we need a coronation at all?

It’s a purely religious thing with some scented olive oil an archbishop has dipped his knob in.

Just to reinforce to the populace, through a demonstration of wealth and power, who they need to kneel before.
