The Night Sky

Last night’s Moon and Venus was spectacular, looked like the bloody Death Star about to attack

Nice, what did you use to take that picture?

Sounds decent for a starter scope

Sounds like a good plan. Download a good stargazer app, my favourite is stellarium but obvs there are others and it’s a great way to find your way around the universe.

Get thee to the Beautiful Things thread :grinning:

PASS IT ON: Quadrantid meteor shower peaks tonight into the predawn hours of Friday morning. Up to 40 meteors will be possible per hour! #MeteorShower #Space pic.twitter.com/UldqtXUY5L

That’s not Venus. It’s the feckin’ Chinese Army driving their tanks round from the far side.

“…were the Tarantula Nebula closer, say 1,500 light-years distant like the local star forming Orion Nebula, it would take up half the sky.”. :open_mouth:

Lunar eclipse early tomorrow morning, large red moon to be seen if the sky remains cloud free.

Thanks 83% cloud cover in Kingston Surrey. Not happening.

72% here. I’ll keep snuggled on the sofa (Claire has got the lurgy, and is alternately coughing her guts up, boiling hot and therefore throwing the bedclothes over me, so I am roasting, or freezing so then she steals the bedclothes, etc etc etc…).

Crystal clear here but I can’t be arsed.

I’m really glad it was cloudy here as I didn’t bother to get up for it.
