The Monarchy (now mostly about money)

Couldn’t have said it better myself…

I guess I’m one of the few here who is not saddened. The monarchy is an out of date set of privilege

I get that she was a nice old lady and all family loss is awful for those close but what she stood for will never sadden me

The royal family has a lot to answer for

Still haven’t quite got the words…
It was my pleasure.

I agree, a monarchy has no real place in modern society, and while she personally may have been nice in many ways, she was far from perfect and her family much worse

Phillip came to me today,
and said it was time to go.
I looked at him and smiled,
as i whispered that “I know”

I then turned and looked behind me,
and seen I was asleep.
All my Family were around me,
and I could hear them weep.

I gently touched each shoulder,
with Phillip by my side.
Then I turned away and walked,
with My Angel guide.

Phillip held my hand,
as he lead the way,
to a world where King’s and Queens,
are Monarch’s every day.

I was given a crown to wear
or a Halo known by some.
The difference is up here,
they are worn by everyone.

I felt a sense of peace,
my reign had seen its end.
70 years I had served my Country,
as the peoples friend.

Thank you for the years,
for all your time and love.
Now I am one of two again,
in our Palace up above.

RIP, Rest your majesty and thank you.

I see that some strike action has been cancelled out of respect for the Queen. So where most people are looking forward to an extra day off for the coronation, @Rob998 is having to go to work!

Yes, not a good look or in good taste to be on a picket line at this time, especially as we are still “Royal” Mail.

Yet another crappy take.

This photo from two days ago

properly put the wind up my household.

The tiny, frail nonagenarian wearing that skirt, really didn’t do anyone any good.

What’s up with it? The particular tartan?

When we saw that pic on Tuesday we were struck by the colour of her hand. Evidently some serious circulation issues.

Yes, same length, same tartan, very reminiscent of my mother.

Again, no idea but so used to seeing my mother with these marks.

Needle bruises?

That was my thought. Reminded me of my late stepfather in his final months.

However very much liking the the big twatting stick.

Hope she used it on BoJo.

Surprised to find this has saddened me. Whatever the arguments against monarchy, she lived the strangest of lives, doing a job that never left her alone for a single second of any given day, for 96 years - no retirement. I couldn’t begin to have done her job - not for all the material benefits she enjoyed, and more besides, and she did it as diligently as she could, until the very end of her life.

Huge respect for the person. We’ll not see her like again…

Was talking with Mrs Waxy about it earlier and I likened it to losing a parent in the sense that the Queen had always been there since we were kids. All of a sudden there is a gap that wasn’t there before. The sudden termination of what had been a lifelong constant.

Discombobulating, regardless of one’s monarchistic tendencies.
