The shit that does merit its own thread

Someone needs to break it to them that it isn’t working.

wasn’t about the size of the fine but the specific value :winking_face_with_tongue:

and tell them the cheque needs to be made out to Jeremy Clarkson.

Rather unsurprisingly the M27 is rated as the worst motorway in the UK

It was woefully inadequate when it opened in the 70s, must be triple the population in the area now :poop:

It seems that we can use the scabby old towels and when my friends come to stay they can use the scabby old towels but if the wife’s cousin is coming to stay then we need new towels and pillowcases :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

That is the way it is.

Upgrade all towels and bedding innit! Everyone gets an upgrade! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I guess same rule must apply to speakers, turntable etc. Although perhaps be careful wife’s cousin isn’t a trigger for a new husband as well. Or will the cousin have to put up with the scabby old husband.

Remove the toilet paper and replace with izal.
Serve a strong curry for tea.

Removes all visitors at a brisk pace. :+1:

Someone needs to invent flavoured bog-paper:

“Carolina Reaper Izal - For Those Hard-to-Shift Mothers-in-Law”

Writes itself really…

Or, at the moment, Taco Bell’s lettuce.

Filming on the Silver Jubilee bridge Widnes/Runcorn tonight. The next Batman film presumably.

Let’s face it Widnes/Runcorn needs all the help it can get.

A helicopter making a lot of noise circling the bridge, presumably filming. Tracking it on flightradar, Saturday nights have never been so exciting

And everyone in Runcorn has the " *Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na BATMAN" ear worm at the moment.

They haven’t got as far as Batman, they started singing Hey Jude.

I suspect most of the people there would hear “dinnner dinner dinner dinner”, get distracted and go to the chippy.

So you’ll probably have seen me moaning before about a friend who keeps coming to me for loans, but I want to vent.

The last loan was about four months ago. The whole situation is very strange because both he and his wife are (as far as I know) well compensated and yet they seem to have absolutely no buffer for even the most minor of financial shocks.

He phoned in June and after forty minutes of blether finally got around to the point which was “I know I owe you money. I’ll pay you back in a few days”. Two more pay-days have come and gone, clearly that hasn’t happened, and I’ve had a bit of a sense of humour failure.

However you look at it he’s behaved very badly, he’s not the person I’ve known since 1985 anymore, and the unquestioning trust that was there is gone permanently.

So I’ll be doing something about it in the next few days. I’m not looking for advice but feel free to channel you inner meatman and chip in with snarky comments.

Do you

  • My instinct: ghost the twat
  • The wife’s take (she’s more conciliatory and less binary than me): ask if I’m going to get the money back, offer to talk

In my similar experience, I doubt you will get the money back. I made it clear to a friend that financial help was now off the table. We are still friends.
