Not sure how effective that type of dust cover is anyway - dust goes sideways, so it will still fall on to the arm and the deck apart from most of the platter. 
Just send it back, distance selling regs mean you are entitled to a refund.
I have used them before and found them quite effective. I have also had she custom made, full covers and found them to be cumbersome and a pain in the arse frankly. Now where did I put my lump hammer er…I mean hacksaw

Nah, admittedly some of it is damn good but the Osmond’s, Neil Diamond, the Rubettes etc.
Rose coloured spectacles (damned fine track) come to mind
