No pictures but decided to take the Suffragette line from Gospel Oak near home to the new Barking Riverside station. Not a great deal to see at Barking Riverside although the low rise houses with garden looked pretty decent. Most of the high density blocks are still being built, plus of course lots of empty building lots to fill. On the way back had a look around Barking, good old style market but most surprising and completely new to me the site of Barking Abbey which goes back to 666AD. With 12th and 15th century elements still remaining. Sadly the church was closed but will plan to make a return. We then got off at Crouch Hill and up to Crouch End Broadway and home via Archway. Decided to protect the wallet and avoided Flashback records.

The patio was shocking so i’ve spent the best part of the afternoon jet washing it.

It’s hard to believe i know, but this is a total transformation from the embarrassment it was before. It’s always been a second hand hotch potch, but it’s better than it was….
Just need to clear a few weeds and brush in some sand/cement now.

This stuff is good for black mould, algae, etc. Just spray on and leave it.

Drying out the loricraft.

Garage flooded a while back and it was sat on the floor so all the wood had split, was filled with clay silt and just generally damp and mouldy.

Gave it a good clean, stuck it in the the box room with the dehumidifier on max for 2 days.

Switches on (no sparks) and works absolutely fine.

Getting my old 1960’s GPO phone working

Geeks heaven

Using a SIP service with an ATA (analogue telephone adaptor) that is connected to the WiFi via a Unifi IOT bridge. The phone then has an inline adaptor to convert the pulse dial of the phone to DTMF for the ATA.

Does that work with a land line number or is it linked to your mobile?

Landline, it’s just a SIP service with a local number.

The ATA is the same one that many internet suppliers like Zen, Vodafone and talk talk etc are providing for phone services.

Lovely - got a load of 746’s in the attic ,trim phones,sceptre100’s and 200/300 - respect for getting it working :+1:

Seriously, why bother?
Nobody exxept scammers ring my landline number.
I don’t even know what the number is and there isn’t a phone of any description connected

I just set up a payment system on my Apple TV, and it required a landline number - area code and number. Mobile number was optional!

Of all companies to have it that way round, Apple seems one of the least likely!

Because it is so cool to still be able to do it.

You may as well build a semaphore tower or buy a mangle to dry your clothes.
