I was wondering why the bird feeder was emptying so quickly
Apologies for the crap picture - taken through the kitchen window

Love that shot with the barbed wire
I would have much preferred it to have been perched on a branch but you take what you get.
The wire gets my vote. There’s something about its hard twisted sharpness.
Red-necked Phalaropes increasing in numbers now, at least 5 females seen today. Hopefully it will be anther great summer for the breeding birds.
A couple of bad phone pics from our S Devon coast walk today.
Yellow Hammer.
Chiffchaff
We did also see Kestrels and apparently Cirl Buntings but didn’t get the pics
Hmmm…
No? What is it then. Will tell BiL
I’m sure we could hear the call. It was pretty distinctive.
Ok, perhaps it’s just the bright sun reflecting off the throat. I’ve zoomed in but unfortunately it doesn’t help a lot.
If it was singing then I’m mistaken. Sorry.
Did you mention this to your BiL Guy?
I messaged him on WhatsApp but where they are staying has no signal so they need to walk inland a way to pick up messages. No response so far.
A few from today.
A pair of Red-throated Divers on breeding territory
Showing how the get their name, a nice red bib
A pair of breeding Ringed Plovers
And one of their offspring
Finally, reflections on a Redshank
Female Red-necked Phalaropes have been here for 8 days now but today produced the first male of the year
It was being closely monitored by 5 females, with this one in the background showing particular interest.
Really interesting thing about phalaropes is that the normal male female role is reversed.
The baby blue tits are starting to have a look outside, I wonder how long till they try and venture out.
By the look of that one I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s imminent.
