Old data but it won’t have changed much
Sharpening halos from overdoing it,.
That makes sense
Although our breeding Wheatears are leaving and very few remain, almost all juveniles, there has been a small influx Greenland type Wheatears on passage and they’re distinctly different from our usual fayre.
You’ll need to explain / show how that is, for the hard of knowing.
And so it starts, Autumn migration is underway!
A Pied Flycatcher was in the garden first thing and the Lesser Whitethroat remained faithful to the insect laden fuchsia bushes.
This Goldcrest was my first of the year, having just arrived it was busy feeding up in the pines at Feal plantation. A Willow Warbler was also present.
Another Pied Fly was at Funzie but the undoubted star bird of the day was a splendid Wryneck at Aith.
Delightful Goldcrest pictures!
This (distant) moulting Grey Plover was among a flock of ~1k Goldies at Funzie, yesterday. Pretty scarce here, this only the 3rd individual I’ve found in 8 years.
Found another Winchat today
Three very *yellow looking Willow Warblers were also new in
*Autumn juveniles always show a lot of yellow
Bluddy superb Paul!
Thanks, it was very flighty so it took a lot of patience (40 mins or so) before it came close enough for decent pics.
Can well believe it - I’m guessing their eyesight and motion-sensitivity must be getting up there with raptors?
Do you ever make prints of favourite bird pics you’ve taken? That third one in particular is a doozy
Without doubt, those big eyes miss nothing. Tend to work along fence lines/stone walls etc and drop down into ditches, fields and the like. Favourite prey seem to be bees, I’ve seen up to 20 impaled on barbed wire as a bit of a larder.
Yeah, sometimes. I don’t print them myself though, I upload the files and get them done professionally which isn’t much more expensive than pissing about with printers, buying paper & ink cartridges.
As pictures of birds go, that is a BANGER!!
