My mates just back from a birding trip to the Galapagos with a few days in the Andes to boot. One of many he sent me, check out the size of the beak on this wee fella.

Didn’t see this beauty in the Galapagos so Andes?

Correct.
“Most of the hummer pics were higher up in the Andes, around 12000ft”

I had assumed the beak was more like a straw but apparently it can open it and catch insects on the wing too.

FoL#2 has been seeing (& filming) quite a few incredible looking humming birds in the Amazon part of their South America trip. Hopefully some will appear soon in the travel videos they keep putting up on YouTube.

I was hoping this was from a barn owl but perhaps just a seagull. Any ideas?

Not a Barn Owl - in my opinion.

And Pmac is not rising to the bait!

I didn’t set the bait for Pmac :grinning:

I know.

Could’ve been a pigeon. I told myself it was something interesting and took some photos of it at home
