Tonight, 7pm. Don’t know who is presenting, turned up in my FB feed from a friend on Islay.
edit: presenter is Peter Roberts of Bruichladdich
Trying out the new **camera. Easy subjects to begin with - hand held from about 50m away and file size dramatically reduced to upload here.
**trying to get my head around the zillion menus
The Sony menu system is a horrific mess. You’ll get used to it, though.
That’s some quite serious compression you have going on there!
Indeed! I cropped the original image which reduced the original JPEG to 15mb and then exported it at ~1.2mb
The menus are not so difficult, it’s just the sheer number of options! As you say, I’ll get used to it and at some point I’ll set up the custom menus, after which it should be pretty simple.
Yeah, it helps that most of the buttons are customisable and the function menu is also pretty useful once you’ve set it up.
Just learning to walk atm, running will come later
Very happy with it to date btw
It’s a spectacular camera.
The sheer number of functions and configuration options is pretty overwhelming for sure. Understanding all the focus modes and getting them set up right is key. Lots of good YouTube vids on the subject.
Good luck Paul - It took me a while to get to grips with Sony after Canon and Ricoh. My tip In the Menu there is a my menu - I have customised this to add in those functions
where sony’s naming convention had caught me out. When I knew what function I wanted to but couldn’t even remember the sony name for it - Example Live view display (on/off) which I knew as WYSIWYG. Then when I forget a name of something I look in my menu and I have a small list of functions that help me remember the sony convention.
I think you can back off the compression - I think the forum allows up to 10MB and it’s probably better to resize the image for something like 2000x1600 if posting here.
Gonna see if I can find a hosting site like Photobucket (but NOT Photobucket)
imgbb for casual stuff, but why not just use flickr?
Yep Flickr is actually ok IMO -let’s see those full frame JPEG’s!
