Totally agree. I really liked them and good to catch up ![]()
Forum tagline?
Pretty much my CV TBH…
The first time I heard these they sounded absolutely superb with The Sheffield Drum Record, properly brilliant, however, the second time I heard them at a different venue they were pretty disappointing unfortunately.
Shows how much difference the room and system can make.
For what it’s worth, the last time I heard the NVA room it sounded great, and the guy(s) running it seem spot on.
Was properly impressed by their mid range floorstanders at Munich '23. Mr Pink Faun (streamers) has (or had at the time) some slightly larger standmounts, circa 9k. Raved they were the best standmount available irrespective of price
One of the guys I know has the big MAATs driven by top of the line Pilium, Vivaldi Apex source. Staggering in many respects, a setup that rearranges perception of what’s possible in many ways. Would love to hear it with a different source…
In any case, surprised to see Sigma getting a run out. The real deal in my experience
They really needed a more challenging mix of music - and a fair bit more volume.
When I walked in the very pleasant Italian chap demoing them was quietly playing an old, low-res classical CD - awful recording - it may have been a great work by a great composer conducted by a true maestro - but the recording was shit, and anyone walking-in at that moment likely would have blamed the speakers…
You can play it WAY too safe…
But I really liked the speakers, as you say - the real deal ![]()
I’d like to listen to them, but it’d have to be blindfolded… ![]()
Italian’s are supposed to be masters of Design, but somehow most of the niche hifi escapes that stereotype…
