Vinyl v digital

This kind of thing is depressing to read lol

I’m always trying to justify my spending on a vinyl set-up and this just isn’t helping!

Ex and above 1st pressings need lots of justification. This thread serves the cause and not the wallet well.

It’s ok, just another stupid thing I’ve done so I won’t worry about it.

There is definitely an allure to things people talk about with fondness and you feel you want to try it out. The extent of my vinyl listening when younger was Reet Petite, Walk the Dinosaur and Shaddap Your Face. All on a basic Sony system. This did not make me get into vinyl more recently. The bastards on here talking about the black stuff made me not want to miss out :person_facepalming:

Where can I send the bill?

Hi-fi expenditure is self-justifying.

I’m just thinking that if I sell up and move into a van, can I fit the vinyl rig?

Boomboomlackalackaboomboom. Deserves a remaster.

I hear you! I have spent 10s of thousands of pounds (Sterling) on my vinyl playback rig to finally get what I have been wanting for 50 years. Now that I have it, how long am I going to live to enjoy it?

This hobby of ours…Every improvement costs ever so much more than that preceding it, and the improvement ever so much smaller than that preceding it. It seems to carry on like that until you are spending everything on nothing…then, was it worth it?

Pandemics, mad storms, global warming hopefully remind humans now is all we’ve got.

Did you post it in the system thread? I think you may have, I’ll take a look later :+1:

My situation is even worse as instead of doing upgrades I’ve just waited until I can get components that I wanted, then, as it’s finally coming together I’m thinking is there any point? :confounded:

I’m actually seriously thinking of travelling in a van so that’s what is really making me think about things. As said, the time is now.

Do it. I managed to do a little bit, always regret not doing more instead of wageslaving it.

You can always do without hifi - it was 30 years before I could afford anything worth a toss.

I still don’t really have anything worth a toss. Is what it is :slightly_smiling_face:

What does that mean though? You don’t like it? Or other people?

Fuck other people: their opinions count for 0.

If you don’t like it - sort your shit out man, c’mon.

I’ve seen posts of your gear and it looks great. Love that room as well.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it sounds superb. I was talking about monetary value, as opposed to value to me.

I love my room.

100% all that matters :+1:

Kit I’ve got now is far from the most expensive I’ve owned, but it’s the sound I like best - even more than the Triangles and Beard etc.

Exactly that Paul :+1:

My best upgrade was the room change.

Have you dug it out now?

That’s a money in the bank future upgrade :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
