Wanted: Turntable upgrade

SP10r

If you haggled and had something for a plinth.
Edit: have to haggle quite hard!

s/h with some haggling etc

Palmer 2.5
Vertere MG-1
Bergmann Magne
Clearaudio Innovation

But tbh I’d start with ‘how many records do you own?’ because typically the best upgrade is more records if you’re starting with say less than 50.

Another one in the mix …N.A . Dais …max audio is a dealer .

Second that - sounds brilliant and is hassle-free. The NA 12" Anna arm is also excellent - I prefer it to my SME 312S.

Don’t have much experience in expensive decks other than shows.

Out of the ones I’ve heard

The voyd
Stst
Garrard 301/401

Or for a lazy solution a 1200g,though I haven’t heard one.

And once the turntable is sorted then it is a @coco san phono stage.

Another choice is I have an Amazon one with a moerch UP4 tonearm I would let go for £2k

Leave the turntable alone and get a better arm and cartridge.

You lucky boy, I was listening to Alan’s yesterday.

Should be able to get a nice SME 20/2 and V for that kind of money.

My 20/3 was £6k from definitive - without arm and cart obvs

Save up and get STST
Another DD option would be the 1200G for sale on the Wam. I think it’s about £2.3k

My 20/2a was £4.5K including a nearly new DVXX2 on the V. I felt it was a reasonable deal at the time. Given the price of a V now I would expect to make decent money if I sold it.

I’ve previously had an Orbe and a Spacedeck and I’d really like something that looks like a turntable rather than an engineering project. I’m even considering an LP12.

I’ve done the top of the range LP12 thing and loved it (Needs an Aro though, I don’t like Linn arms). The SME is miles better. I object to the “engineering project” description though. It is clearly a scale model of an oil rig.

You had the Orbe when I brought my Allnic phono stage to your bakeoff.

Depends if you want to carry some apples around I guess

If you’re after something record player shaped, your money would go further on a Xerxes (it’s better too).

EDIT; Exhibit A not the best colour but a lot of turntable there.

Inspector Morse had a xerxes
