Bhindi Bhaji is the best song about food and being in a band ever.
Good LP that. I am really enjoying it (despite the lengthy delays on delivery).
Had a first listen with FoL yesterday who said it was very Byrds ‘Notorious Byrds Brothers (I’d played that a lot when she was younger).
On second listen I’m enjoying it a lot, maybe more than almost any of Ripley’s other work, and certainly much more than his Moon Duo output.
I get the Byrds thing. To me the most obvious link is Grateful Dead. It (and the previous LP) is a like tribute LP to the Dead.
Hah, I’ve peered from the edge into the abyss that is the GD catalogue and managed to pull myself away
I used to absolutely despise the Dead. About 25 years ago I would have spat chips at the thought of listening to them. I still prefer the very early stuff but I’m slowly listening and working my way though the back catalogue. It is all good stuff.
I refuse to get fully on the bootleg/live LP thing though. You would need thousands to purchase all that, and then a fair sized room to store it in.
Just download them from archive.org
Several lifetimes worth.
GD aside, I’m convinced there are some hidden gems on there. I’ve got a Damien Rice bootleg album that was recorded by someone on a DAT machine off there, and it’s honestly one of my favourite things ever. Superb recording and gig from when he was with Lisa Hannigan.
Where is the fun/faff in that though?? I already have hundreds of hours of Dead gigs on my server.
LP
That is a rabbit warren’s rabbit warren. I’ve not looked at it for a good while.
I might be gone for some time.
It’s honestly frightening.
Thanks Mark
I was not aware of this site, at all.
Reading about the Damien Rice bootleg, it appears acceptable to the legality issues.
Are there a lot more of this type of downloads?
Modern music in very good quality?
