Early 70s I had a number 1 and kept it for a few years till it feel out of favour, in south London speak; the girls didn’t like it anymore

Ha! My old dear went the other way, from “Your hair is too long” to “Your hair is too short”.

I ended up getting it cut because I played rugby and it was getting pulled a lot, resulting in bloody noses (usually mine).
