Wildlife (non-avian)

The aptly named Monarch.

Do their numbers seem to be stable? I ask because I’ve read about significant habitat loss in their wintering grounds in Mexico :frowning:

Listed as endangered. Still seen in my area (Southern Ontario), but they’ve disappeared from many areas.
Habitat loss is a problem here too. People are being encouraged to plant “pollinator gardens” or milkweed

This was magic; dozens of White Admirals visited my campsite to drink from my drying gear . . .

Saw a few of these Marbled White, yesterday on the golf course (part of South Downs National Park).
Can’t recall seeing them before (not my pic)

Not the best of pics, but tonight, for the first time in a number of years I have hedgehogs back in the garden. Hooray! I’ll be picking up some kitten food tomorrow.

Lovely. Alas the only hogs I see these days are roadkill :grimacing:

Unfortunately, same as that :sad_but_relieved_face:

Up until 5-6 years ago we were getting up to five at a time and multiple visits per night, brilliant. Noisy wee buggers and a lot faster than you would think.
