Wildlife (non-avian)

Turtle as the creator was a widespread belief amongst many tribes so I would say yes.
Saw a few of these signs on yesterday’s long walk, all around swampy terrain. Exact sort of place nesting turtles are this time of year

More likely Hinduism, which in an interesting coincidence has a similar cosmography ‘Akupara’.

It’s a brave man or a fool that mixes it with snappers :open_mouth:

It’s the sheer speed they can strike that’s astounding!

They are huge  A lot of wetland has been restored or engineered in the last 30ish years in the Toronto area, so they’re a pretty common sight.
More young emerging from nests and entering areas where they stand a chance of being killed or injured at this time of year. This was by a swamp right next to a very popular cycling/walking trail

Florida things. The grasshopper is about 3.5” long, should give some scale to the spiders.

Checked on her this morning at 6 when we took the dogs out and she was still snoozing.

She’s currently buzzing about the garden looking for an old mouse hole to settle in by the looks of it.
