Interesting video here - I hadn’t twigged that the the top of the roll cage structure on Zhou’s car had clean snapped off during that crash at Silverstone. In that situation, it sounds like the halo 100% saved his life just whilst sliding:

Have been driving to France, so no f1 today

Caught the pre race stories though and thought this was mildly relevant

Quite possibly this

This though? :dog2::poop:

Way too much booing and jeering of drivers at races in general, but seems to be spreading into some downright shocking behaviour from some so-called ‘fans’:

Entertaining race today mind.

I suspect race circuits will be implementing some changes to remove traps like that. Can only imagine what would have happened if there was a fire or if they needed to get him out quickly.

Seems that Bernie bloke is being charged with fraud. Oh dear.

Michael Masi has resigned his role at the FIA.

It’s good that the FIA eventually acknowledged they’d messed-up in Ab-dab, and his role in it, but I’m not confident race direction has improved in consistency or quality since. The painful obsession with track limits in Styria last w/e being just one example.

When they hired Harvey Postlethwaite he told me if they had enough money to build a wind tunnel they would actually instal another dyno.
They were pretty shit cars back then. One of the things giving me the confidence to have a go myself was seeing how shitty the design of the chassis and aero were and even manufacture of fabricated parts on the car. Anything that wasn’t a machined casting was crap.
The engines and gearboxes were jewellery though, and probably still are.

Nice lap from Leclerc, but my hero Alesi :grinning:.

Nice teamwork from Carlos, too - he’s put in some really solid work this season, been good to see :ok_hand:

Strategy award 2022 goes to Ferrari.

Forgot it’s the French GP, that bloody circuit. It’s a race track not a canvas for a street painter with a penchant for blue and red stripes. Feeling positively sea sick watching the highlights.

“Toto Wolff confirms Lewis Hamilton retirement talks with targets set for Mercedes star.”

But this is in the Daily Express, so as likely to be complete nonsense as not.

Meanwhile

I hope he does, would be great to see him win another championship and break the record.

Perhaps finish his career racing for Ferrari

oxymoron!

Lewis will have to have got all that done before moving to Ferrari (though I doubt that would ever happen)

Ferrari seem to be the most innovative team in F1 for throwing away a winning position!

He’s not winning another championship with mercedes in the next 2/3 years.
