3 Sprint races confirmed, 8 points to the winner (8!!??)
One of them’s at Imola, of all places
Won’t that mean more empasis on the start than ever befre?
You can qualify as fastest then lose three places on the start and never make them back up in the sprint.
Makes a mockery of qualifying in my opinion.
If you must have sprints and award points for them, then the start order for the race should not be affected and should be set by qualifying

Thanks, I missed that bit, that is a change from last year.
What is the logic for that change?
Logic? Where we’re going, we don’t need no logic!
Can make for good viewing?
In other (likely unsurprising) news, Mr Hamilton is announced as returning to F1 for the 2022 season.
Not that he actually left, of course.
The US media company that owns F1 wants ways to make more high viewer count TV programmes (=$$$$) out of each weekend. That is where idea for the sprint races came from.
The Teams are against it so I guess the new points haul is there to strong arm them into accepting more.
In the absence of DRS on the new cars we will probably get processional sprints and processional GPs perhaps even when somebody qualifies out of pace order. Unless it rains.
I understood that DRS had to be kept because Ross Brawn’s technical team finally admitted that if you are behind a car and have no loss in downforce, you also have no loss in drag, so you will maintain station (or processional racing as you have stated).
Surprising that with so many experts on the overtaking project for so long that this basic problem was missed until the end.
So it was agreed to keep DRS and trial reducing the amount at each circuit during the seasons to see if overtaking could occur with less DRS.
Friday pole sets pole for the sprint race, sprint race sets pole for the main race
Good of the FIA to have been so clear in their original presser
Good start, Mo
That’s a nice colour.
If we lived in a Fair and Proper World, you’d be paid good money to commentate this stuff
At the launch it was pretty much all they talked about.
I don’t want to upset the techies, but I think we all know it’s the really important bit
The rate a Williams goes round a track means they have got more time to fill.

Well that should add to the ‘fun’…
