AA Train thread

I often think a ‘Thoughts of Guru Stu’ volume to capture your many words of great wisdom would be of great benefit to society, and sure to appear on bestseller lists everywhere :+1:

There was an early tome of such wit & wisdom, handwritten as it pre-dated Caxton’s press but now sadly lost. We should insist on a new edition.

You’ve lead a pretty mental life mate. As @Mrs_Maureen_OPinion says, an autobiography is defo in order. Put me down for a copy.

2.4kW / carriage / mile!? If it really was that efficient it’s a no-brainer - presumably per-passenger with the train full.

Meanwhile, far, FAR from Reality, the tiny-train addiction is really taking hold - to the extent that I’ve now joined a model train club… :open_mouth:

I was a bit surprised to discover that Spalding even has such a thing, more so when I discovered they’ve basically taken-over most of Pinchbeck’s village hall, and more again to discover they’re a really decent bunch of chaps (and one ex-chap who’s a girl now - and this is very much a railway enthusiast thing: every facebook group &c seems to have at least one transgendered person amongst its membership: not a Venn intersect I’d anticipated :scissors: but very much in-keeping with 2025’s zeitgeist.)

Everybody knows FAR more about everything than I do. I am so noob it hurts.

Some pictures of very tiny trains doing their thing -

I still think this is some kind of slo-mo nervous breakdown, but I’m enjoying my slide into doltery, so whatevs.

Winter hobby sorted.
Are tiny trains an expensive pastime?

When on offer, 298 of your pounds to recreate south London commuter misery and then more to put in a control system from the 20th century.

Compared to stuff like hifi, not expensive, compared to hobbies like wanking, yeah, not cheap :ok_hand:

Probably best not to get the two mixed up,nothing worse than wanking at a mini train meet up. :+1:

Mildly surreal sight in 2025, and just up the road from @Jim

Thoroughly enjoyed this:

Loved seeing some younger folk front-and-centre, their joy in what they’re doing was positively heartwarming.
