It weren’t exactly Motorhead!
I booked the Oysterband once for our local festival; they were miserable and unfriendly (in a “we’re musical royalty” sort of way), and they most certainly didn’t rock - at least by my understanding of the word!
The gig was sold out, ticket only, and standing. The audience were queueing 45 minutes before the doors opened, whinged about the lack of seats (it was publicised as standing - we couldn’t have afforded to book the band if we’d had to stick to seated fire limits), then stood around for about an hour after the gig had finished so by the time they’d left and we’d cleaned the extra-ordinarily dirty floor (where did they find all that mud? they’d all arrived by car to a tarmac car-park and come into a large village hall?) it was 2.30am.
By contrast, we’d had The Hamsters the night before; they’d rocked in a Hendrix-covers type of way, they’d been really friendly, the audience had bought triple the amount of booze (and the venue was only 3/4 full), and afterwards the floor was clean.
